How Solar Works
Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it to clean energy that can be used to power your home all year. When sunlight hits your panels, DC energy is produced. That energy is is converted to AC energy that can used used in your existing electrical system.
That energy is then tracked by a monitoring system before being used in the home, or going back out to the grid.
During the day, energy is being produced, even on cloudy days. That energy can be used in your home or sent back to the grid for retail credit. At night you continue to get electricity from the local utility, but that energy is paid by your credits. Credits roll over month to month for up to 12 months.
Remote Net Metering
For homes that are shaded, face the wrong direction, or have space limitation, there is an option to remotely credit power from another location. Remote net metering allows a customer to own a solar array at an open field, barn or solar farm, and receive the same credit at their home or business meter.
